THE XUCHIL TEAM
The Xuchil team is based out of the rural town of Santiago Suchilquitongo in Oaxaca, Mexico. The team produces and sells mesquite flour and other nutrient-rich mesquite derivatives through a process of rinsing, drying, and milling the mesquite pods.
They process around 88 pounds of mesquite a day!
Mesquite flour production provides meaningful employment and economic empowerment for the team and the surrounding community. Currently, the Xuchil team is expanding its market to include bakeries, food stores, and restaurants in the surrounding Oaxacan area, and is beginning to sell products in the United States.

None of this project would be possible without Tejiendo Alianzas, our nonprofit partner and constant contact. Tejiendo Alianzas works mainly with rural communities in Oaxaca, Mexico, and their mission, "catalyzing and connecting communities for a more just and equitable world," directly aligns with our vision for this project. Throughout the year, our team regularly communicates with Tejiendo Alianzas to ensure that our work will fit the needs of the Xuchil team.
